Proverbs 17:22
We all know people who remind us of Eeyore the donkey in A.A Milne’s Winnie the Pooh. Eeyore is always looking on the dull side of life. Everything is difficult for him and joy is impossible to be found even when everyone else is having fun. There is a dark cloud that hangs over these people’s life which makes them difficult to be around and difficult to please. Perhaps this dark cloud is depression, perhaps it is disappointment or perhaps it is simply the absence of hope. A crushed spirit sucks the joy and life out of life. As much as it is not enjoyable to be around these people it is even more unpleasant to be the one in this predicament. There is only One who can provide a Hope which will not end in disappointment, a Joy that is sustainable and a life worth living without end – Jesus.
