Stuck in the cycle?

Romans 6:23

Whether we are self employed or an employee we expect to be paid for the work we have done. In fact we would insist that it is our right to receive a reward for our effort. Throughout our lives we exchange our services and our time for a monetary payment. It doesn’t take long before our lifestyle is heavily dependant on how much time we sacrifice and how much money we earn. We quickly become enslaved to the source of our income. We begin to dream of winning the lottery to release us from the prison sentence we have made for ourselves. Sin is also rewarding, at least for a time, but soon we become trapped in the need for the gratification and become dependant on the ‘reward’ that sin promises yet often short changes us. Why is it then that so many disregard the winning lottery ticket, the free gift that our God is offering and prefer to be stuck in the daily grind?
