I am not sure how many of us would be able to claim that we always have pure motives for doing good things. A pure motive would mean that our actions are carried out with the right intentions and for the right reasons. So often we do things that look good but we do them to secretly get something we want. It may be to do with getting our way or to improve our reputation or to make others envious or just to make us feel better. The last thing we would want in those situations is to be caught out and exposed as a fake. As much as we like to think we are decent and generally good people when it comes to uncovering our motives we may not be so sure. Fortunately, while God can see our motives and knows why we do what we do, He has made a way for us to be pure in His sight and to work on changing why we do what we do.
