The Story
I can’t remember the situation I was in when writing this song given that it was so long ago. I did think it was lacking something and added verse 2 in June this year.
It is a song that expresses how far we were from God (Romans 3:23) and yet while we were still sinners, (Romans 5:8) he sent his son to die in our place so that we can be reconciled to him (Romans 5:10). Now when God looks upon those who call Jesus Lord, he does not see our sin but sees Jesus (Colossians 3:3).
Where would we be without the love of God and the blood of Jesus which presents us faultless and righteous before a holy and mighty God (Jude 24). He alone is worthy of all our praise (Deuteronomy 10:21).
Lyrics
[verse 1]
I’m not worthy, Oh Lord
I’m not worthy at all
I’m not worthy of your
Amazing Grace
[chorus]
But you see me in Jesus
And you love me just the same
Cause He died on Calvary’s Tree
To take my shame
But you see me in Jesus
And you love me just the same
Cause He died on Calvary’s Tree
And rose again.
[bridge]
Where would I be without you?
Where would I be without you?
Where would I be without you?
Awesome God
[verse 2]

After all that I have done.
And all the times I have run.

Cause He died on Calvary’s Tree
To take my shame
But you see me in Jesus
And you love me just the same
Cause He died on Calvary’s Tree
And rose again.
