The Story
The world strives for happiness, for easy living and comfort yet depression, anxiety and increasing anger seem to be the result of this mirage.
As Christians, the indwelling Holy Spirit blesses us with joy, part of his fruit, that surpasses happiness and is independent of our circumstance and situation. This joy cannot be manufactured or explained but is released as we trust more of our lives to Jesus. As we let go of the control that we seek, and submit to the authority and life giving presence of God we experience his joy in circumstances that would crush those who place their hope in the world and it’s attractions.
The chorus of this song draws on verses like Nehemiah 8:10, Philippians 4:4, Isaiah 45:10, Psalm 16:11, Psalm 30:11, Psalm 100:1-2, Psalm 149:3.
