The Story
From when he called his first disciples Peter and Andrew (Matthew 4:18), Jesus has been calling people to follow him ever since. Calling us to a different life, a different future and a different kingdom. He will continue to call until that day when the trumpet sounds (1 Thessalonians 4:16,17). We all have a choice to bow before Jesus the King under our own decision while here on this earth, or when it is too late – before the judgement seat when ‘every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.’ (Philippians 2:10,11 Romans 14:11). Other Bible references found in this song are Matthew 16:24, 28:20, Mark 8:34, Luke 9:23, 14:27, John 14:21, 15:4-9, 1 John 2:5.
Lyrics
Jesus is calling “Come follow me”
I have a bigger plan, than what you can see
Jesus is calling “Give me your sin”
No turning back, it’s better with him
[chorus]
The King is calling, he’s calling you now
The King is calling, when will you bow
Jesus is calling “Take up your cross
And abide in me, you’ll never be lost”
Jesus is calling to trust and obey
Love and be loved, and walk in his way
[chorus]
The King is calling, he’s calling you now
The King is calling, when will you bow
Jesus is calling “leave your nets”
Come to me and enter your rest
Drop your burdens at my feet
And I surely will set you free.
[chorus]
The King is calling, he’s calling you now
The King is calling, when will you bow
Jesus is coming, will you be found?
Before you leave here in the ground
Jesus is coming, soon in the clouds
Will you be ready when the trumpet sounds?
[chorus]
The King is calling, he’s calling you now
The King is calling, when will you bow
