Exodus 21:13 ‘but if God lets it happen’
I find it surprising and disturbing that we read God would let someone die after an accident. Not only that, the person who was responsible, although unintentionally, would get protection.
The fact that God lets anything bad happen seems contrary to His reputation of being good.
There is a lot of bad stuff happenning in the world and will be until judgement day, and God lets it happen.
For some it may prove that there is no God, for some it may prove that He can’t do anything and for others it may prove He doesn’t care.
It takes faith to believe that whatever God does or doesn’t do, is totally up to Him. It takes faith to realise that whatever God lets happen must, despite what it seems to us, be somehow good and part of His plan.
If we only limit our understanding of what God does and doesn’t do to this lifetime, then we are creating an image of God that is not complete.
To trust Him when everything is going well, is easy, but to trust and believe when things are not going so well really shows what we actually believe about God.
