1 John 4:21
The people closest to us are often the ones that hurt us most deeply. Those closest to us are often the ones that let us down, aggravate us with their annoying habits, take advantage of us and disagree with us. After all, we cannot choose our family, whether it be our blood family or the family of God. It is easy to love someone that you get along with, have plenty in common with and agree with on most things. As followers of Jesus, we are not called to just love those who are easy to love but even more so those who are not so easy to love. We often forget that while we were unlovable Jesus loved us. Even though we didn’t deserve it He died for us. He did what it took to restore our relationship with the Father and He asks us to do the same with each other.
