Colossians 3:23
When it comes to work, we can tend to try and do as least as we can for as much as we can. We can desire the reward but despise the effort. With this attitude comes shortcuts, poor quality, bad workmanship and carelessness especially when the boss is not around. With this attitude we can easily equate our effort to our earning. In other words, the more we get paid the better job we are inclined to do. So, when it comes to volunteering or doing someone a favour or even being unsupervised we can have the attitude that we don’t have to give our best. What a difference it would make if followers of Jesus were known to give 100% effort for 100% of the time regardless of supervision or reward. That is what we are called to do. Whether we have a highly paid job or whether we don’t, whether we are employed or if we are volunteering we are working for the One who saved us, the One who rewards us and the One who holds our future in His hands. Followers of Jesus should be the most trusted workers who are known for their high quality and consistent dependability.
