Romans 8:18

From the very beginning being associated with Jesus meant being on the wrong side of religious and political leaders. Both the religious and political powers at the time believed that the teachings of Jesus were a threat to their power and control over the people. While Jesus never instructed or intended his followers to revolt against the leaders of the land, he did have quite a bit to say against the rules and regulations imposed on the people by the religious leaders. From the start it was unpopular to be a follower of Jesus and for those who truly follow Jesus today it hasn’t changed. We know that across the world there are varying degrees of discomfort experienced by Jesus followers. These will range from rebukes and rejection to imprisonment and execution depending on where and when. Whatever happens we know that what is to come is better than what is.
