Waiting

Psalm 33:18

One of the hardest things to do in life is wait. Waiting means that we are at the mercy of someone else’s timing. We could be waiting in line, waiting in traffic, waiting for a phone call, waiting for our computer to respond, waiting for the food at a restaurant or waiting for a planned event on the calendar. Waiting is the period of time when we want something to happen but for a number of reasons can’t yet. While waiting can be frustrating it can also demonstrate patience and trust. Waiting can also generate excitement and anticipation but also anxiety. Frustration, anger and disillusionment are common as well. For those who follow Jesus, waiting for his timing is the difficult part of faith. It is easy to give up on him and do our own thing taking matters into our own hands. Fortunately, he doesn’t give up on us.
