1 Chronicles 29:13
We seem to live in a world where the quest for more has replaced appreciation for what we have. Discontent can drive positive change but when constant and unrelenting it can be impossible to please. We are bombarded with advertising and are fascinated with the fantasies of perfect bodies, flash houses and fancy cars. Enough becomes not enough and what we should enjoy is not enjoyable anymore all because we believe we are entitled to have more and have the best. At worst we are driven by greed and at the very least we have fallen for the illusion of perfection. How different the world would be if we could be thankful for what we had and for anything we received. We would be happier, more content and less stressed. The problem with being thankful though is that we must admit there is always someone to be thankful to and many are not able to bring themselves to recognise a God who loves them and provides so much more than we actually need.
