Galatians 6:7-8
If we are honest with ourselves, we will observe that our natural instinct is to follow our natural instincts. Think about it for a moment. If you followed through on your first response to feelings of anger, sexual attraction and need for money what would your life look like? It would probably be a mess, perhaps you would be in jail or at the very least very alone perhaps even dead. If we didn’t have some kind of filter to screen our reactions, attractions and emotions there would be chaos in the world. What we are seeing around us is that more and more people are living without filters because they have been either damaged by drugs and alcohol or discarded because individuals have made a decision that they will live their own way. As followers of Jesus, we are instructed to live through the filter of His Spirit and His values rather than our natural urges. How different would the world look if each person acted always out of sacrificial love and concern for others?
