2 Corinthians 10:5
Faith is often considered a mindless belief. Some would even say that to have faith we need to leave behind our brain and blindly accept whatever we are told. This might be true for superstitions, legends and fairy tales but a faith in Jesus is founded on solid evidence. Historical records outside the Bible testify that Jesus really did walk the earth, perform miracles, was crucified and that the only credible explanation is that he did rise from the dead. Despite uninformed claims to the contrary, the Bible itself stands up to professional examination as being a reliable source of information about the life of Jesus and the early church. Some purposefully choose not to dig a bit deeper to discover for themselves perhaps because they fear they might be convicted. For those of us who do follow Jesus, one of the first things that causes doubt is the arguments and pretensions that come against our beliefs. If we don’t make an effort to remind ourselves of the solid foundation of our faith we can get discouraged and distracted very quickly. A couple of books which will help are The Case for Christ and Cold Case Christianity.
