In today’s busy and demanding world with heightened emphasis on productivity and compliance it doesn’t take much to feel the weight of the world on our shoulders. Directly or indirectly we are threatened with jobs cuts, fines and at the very least a reduction in our personal worth if we don’t perform or fail to comply with ever increasing rules and regulations. It is no surprise to those that have been in the church for a while because we have often made people feel that to follow Jesus means to be weighed down with requirements and expectations which are burdensome. How far we have strayed from Jesus promise that His burden is light and His yoke is easy. If we are not careful the peace, joy and love that overwhelms us when we first give our lives to Him can give way to worldly and or religious burdens.
