Will North Korea start a war? Will the volcano erupt? Will an earthquake cause a tsunami? Will a hurricane wipe out a city? Will my marriage survive this rocky time? Will I still have a job this time next year? Will I be able to afford an interest rate rise? Will my kids make good decisions? Will I get cancer? Will I survive this sickness? Will I be safe when I walk the streets?
Some of these questions will be more relevant to some than others but we all have them and more. They can consume our thoughts causing us considerable concern. We can become so disturbed and distressed about what is and what could be that we live in fear and insecurity. The troublesome questions can keep us awake at night and constrict our dreams during the day.
Yet for those who have given their lives to Jesus, the Prince of Peace, we have the assurance, confidence and comfort that whatever turmoil and trouble can and will happen – everything will be okay. He gives us a peace that is beyond understanding or explanation. Our perspective changes from the dangers of this world to the deliverance of the next, from the worries of personal harm to the worship of our personal Saviour.
