Why me?

As we journey through life we can ask the question ‘why is this happening to me?  This could be a realisation of the incredible opportunity and good fortune we have compared to others but mostly it is in response to difficulty,  sickness and hardship.  Somehow deep down we figure that there must be a purpose for everything in our life otherwise what is the point in getting up in the morning.  Based on this assumption if bad things or good things happen to us we figure somehow we have deserved what has come our way.  Alternatively we can spend our time reflecting that we don’t deserve what is happening.  I am not convinced that there is a purpose for everything but I know that in everything we can find a purpose.  As followers of Jesus it doesn’t matter what is happening in our life be it good or bad we can be rest assured that God is working in us and through us for ours and his benefit.  We might not understand at the time, we might not enjoy it, appreciate it or recognise it but one day we will know.
