How hard is it?

Christians are often portrayed on Tv and in movies as being weak, meek, old, nerds or geeks.  When was the last time you saw a Christian portrayed as confident, compassionate, clever and constrained.  Whether you realise it or not being a follower of Jesus is probably the toughest, hardest and most difficult thing you can do in this lifetime.  It takes determination and resolve. It takes you out of your comfort zone every day.  It opens your eyes to a daily battle for good and against evil.  It brings the best and worst out of you.  It challenges and stretches your capacity to cope and teaches you to love those you don’t really want to love.  How hard is it to go against the flow, to control seemingly natural urges and to resist temptation?  To forgive those who have sinned against us seems impossible.  Why would you and how could you live like this?  When we give our lives to Jesus he gives us his Spirit who enables us to live the life that he has called us to.  A life that takes us beyond our current capabilities and towards our full potential.  A life beyond our current weaknesses, failures and fears towards the fullness of what we were made to be.
