Wisdom really only makes sense to most in hindsight. Being such a rare yet valuable trait, wisdom when used can seem to not make sense at the time and is often contrary to popular opinion. It is only when circumstances unfold that people look back at a decision and realise that it really was wise because things turned out for the best. At the time though there may have been opposition and the idea may have appeared to be ridiculous. So while asking God for wisdom sounds great we need to realise that it may be difficult to comprehend and painful to impliment. Which is why I believe James encourages his readers to not second guess the answer they receive from God when He faithfully provides the wisdom that is asked for. Wisdom is as much about knowing what not to do as it is knowing when and how what should be done.
