Sin

Nobody really likes to be told they are wrong or what they have done is bad.  We all like to believe that what we think and what we do is entirely our choice.  When it comes to others there is the perception that if they are not hurting anyone else then it shouldn’t really matter what they do or think.  To be confronted with the word ‘sin’ would stir up hostility and the rebuttal would probably include a denial of God and the right to run or ruin our own lives.  To be measured against an independant and objective standard seems foreign and repulsive to most and scary to others. Perhaps part of this resistance has come from some messengers who have tried to instill the fear of judgement rather than proclaim the good news of forgiveness.  We all know we don’t meet our own standards let alone God’s. Fortunately He cared for us enough to provide forgiveness, reconciliation and a way to overcome our weaknesses through Jesus.
