What’s in us.

One of the things that is difficult to explain about being a Jesus follower is that overwhelming, life changing and all encompassing sensation that occurred when we first handed our whole life over to him.  At the same time we wondered what it was but were also bewildered how we lived without it.  There is a mixture of joy, relief, freedom, love, wonder and certainty that enveloped us from the inside out and the outside in.  It was like we had arrived, found our purpose in life and that our eyes had been opened.  It will sound strange and a bit spooky to those of you who have chosen not to surrender your life to the One we believe made us but for us it was more than real.  The writer of today’s verse was writing to remind his readers of this experience which was a turning point in their lives as it was ours. He was reminding them because it can be so easy to forget, to forget what it felt like to be without the Spirit of Jesus in us and to forget that despite how we feel no one or nothing can take Him away from or out of us.
