All or nothing

The perception of what a Christian is, particularly in western society, generally includes being associated or aligned with a church and being a ‘good’ person.  Many people have been led to believe or simply like to believe that being baptised as a baby and or going to church a few times a year including weddings and funerals but mainly Christmas and or Easter is hopefully enough to earn a ticket to heaven.  As long as church and God don’t affect our plans, our life or anybody else too much then being a ‘Christian’ is pretty good and socially acceptable.  Unfortunately, this idea of Christianity is a long way from what Jesus taught about following him.  He mentioned nothing about minimum requirements and basic obligations.  He taught an all or nothing approach to faith and following.  He taught that our plans and our life will only be fully meaningful, purposeful and pleasing to God if we give Him all and trust Him with all that we are and all that we have.
