There is a huge amount of time, energy and money spent each day, particularly by women, in the world’s pursuit of beauty and the perfect body. Skin care products, cosmetics, surgery, weight loss programs, fitness fads, Botox and slimming drinks are some of the things that are used and combined in the obsession to look like the toned and airbrushed models in magazines and movies. Fitness, healthy living and self care should be encouraged for a better quality of life but not to try and solve the inner insecurity of needing to compete in a life long beauty competition. What a different world we would live in if the same amount of time, energy and attention were to be put into pursuing a relationship with God? The inner beauty that comes from the joy, peace, value, truth and love of God far outshines and outlasts the temporary and purely physical worldly beauty solutions.
Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
Proverbs 31:30 NLT
