Is this all there is?

We can find ourselves asking the question “is this all there is?  Life can get very repetitive, mundane and unfulfilling at times.  For others the endless cycle of poverty, addiction or boredom can make life seem pointless.  There is nothing more inspiring though in an otherwise seemingly dull moment in life than looking forward to an exciting event or a happy holiday.  When the horizon holds a promise of happiness and hope the present somehow seems more bearable and meaningful.  Everything we do is then done with the end in mind.  Meaningless tasks don’t seem to bother us as much.  Hard work doesn’t seem that tiring and our capacity to endure increases knowing that the end or at least a break is coming.  As followers of Jesus our ultimate hope is to see Him return.  His second coming will break us out of the pain, pressure and stress of this life.  It is something that everyone has the opportunity to embrace because of what He did the first time He was here.  It is something we can look forward to in the darkest and most meaningless moments in life.
so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.
