Success looks slightly different for all of us but it generally includes some sort of wealth, recognition and a comfortable life. Whatever the formula we use to strive for success it usually includes hard work, placing ourselves in the best position, knowing the right people and getting the right job with the best pay and the best benefits. Success is also often associated with being in the right place at the right time to reap the biggest reward. It amazes me that after more than fifteen years of reality TV how many people still line up to show off their talent and personality in order to achieve their goal of popularity and prosperity. Most of us don’t go to that extreme but we still desire success and often do whatever it takes to get there.Though many strive for success not many achieve satisfaction.
The writer of today’s proverb acknowledges that in reality our success in life ultimately is only made possible by acknowledging the One who made us and who gave us our abilities and our personalities in the first place and that it is He alone who can help us achieve our potential in life.
True humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long life.
