It can be quite easy to become discouraged and lose hope at different times in our life. Perhaps we are disillusioned with our job or you have found yourself without one, we might experience conflict in our family, be battling long term illness or injury or even coming to terms with the loss of a loved one. Financial difficulty, lack of friendships or struggles with our self image, self control and self worth can all lead to us to feeling down and without hope. One of the great things about being human is that we have been given the ability to make choices. We are able to decide how we respond to circumstances in our life and we have the ability to choose between wallowing and worshipping or between staying down and getting up. Many choose to remain in the dark place or simply cannot see their way out. For those that follow Jesus it is easier to get out of those down moments and to get through the tough times when we acknowledge that God is in control and that we can put our trust and hope in him. It is still a choice though which often means going against our feelings.
Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!
