Disappointment, disillusionment and dispondency all creep into our lives at some point or another. For some these turn into despair and for others long term depression. The lack of hope exaggerates the things that get us down. As soon as there is no hope for a better future, life looks lonely, limited and largely pointless. Having hope on the other hand means that the future holds laughter, limitless potential and lots to look forward too. As followers of Jesus the hope that we have is in the One who not only holds the future but is the future. His promise goes beyond the realm of this earth and this life to a place where hopelessness does not exist. His promise is that he can turn any negative situation into a positive outcome. This hope can sustain us regardless of the cicumstances to the point that even in the midst of our pain and problems we can have joy.
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
