I think the cause of most trouble in the world stems from simple greed and selfishness. The desire to have what we want and get our own way is powerful and can consume a person. The one with the strongest will, the most resources and the grratest influence usually leverages those things for their own purposes and often causes hurt and destruction on the way. This attitude comes from a perspective that considers everything on this earth to be ours to use for our own purposes. What a difference it would make if more people considered themselves stewards of God’s resources instead of thinking it all belongs to them for their use and their comfort. Living life this way seems unnatural but think about how the world would be different if we lived as managers not owners, sharing not stockpiling and giving rather than gathering. As followers of Jesus we acknowledge that everything on this earth belongs to God and that it is not ours but he has given us the responsibility of looking after it and caring for the people in it.
You are great and powerful, glorious, splendid, and majestic. Everything in heaven and earth is yours, and you are king, supreme ruler over all.
