In the dark

Walking in the dark can be mysterious and an adventure.  It can hold a sense of excitement but more often than not complete darkness strikes fear in the bravest of us, particularly in an unknown place and on an unknown path. There are so many unknowns and even dangerous possibilities when there is no light. Walking in the blackness is a lot slower, we can slip, trip, fall or bump into hidden objects and there is no way to tell if there is anyone around and what their intentions are. We don’t run in the dark but often we feel like we must. We feel like we need to get to a safe place in a hurry and long for just a shred of light to give a sense of direction, comfort and security. What a difference light makes.  It only takes a small source of light to make a huge difference in the dark. It is the same in our relationship with others and with God.  When we try to hide and cover up our feelings, thoughts, grief and wrong doing it is like a heavy darkness enveloping our life. As hard as it can be, letting the light of God into these areas brings warmth, comfort, love and safety allowing us to have better relationships and a lighter life.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
